If the meaning of womanly aesthetics lies in the metaphorical universe of flowers, the pale pink color––think a bunch of delicate petals grown graciously by droplets of nocturnal dews and a trace of vivid dreams––would be the purest manifestation of a girl’s puberty being on the verge of embracing her approaching full bloom womanhood. It has been 5 years since ‘Made Of Fabric’ is strongly committed to introducing a womenswear line that stresses on women's aesthetics and accentuates a meticulous craftsmanship. This Autumn/Winter 2017 collection named ‘Dreamless Romance’ underlines an imagery of women whose appearances are to be metaphorically compared to that of off-the-book princesses. Directed by young and talented creative director Rassarine “Kathy” Tanachaiwattanapokin, the collection is defined by its lifestyle-driven personalities and the perfectionist idea that all girls can be just as much princess-like as she desires.
‘Dreamless Romance’ reinvents one of the most classical narratives ‘Sleeping Beauty’ by Charles Perrault. The story tells of a princess who is of absolute beauty, delicacy, and wisdom. However, her life is at massive risk by a vicious witch who is jealous of her and abhorrently has the princess’s life cursed to be under a sleeping state for 100 years. As the story goes, only the purest kiss from a prince charming could uncurse and bring her back to life. Influenced by this classical impressive piece of work, the collection is therefore geared towards reinterpreting the elements of the princess’s beauty and wisdom by turning them into an inspiration heaving with innocence and optimism. Not only does a princess get to play a key role in the collection, an obnoxious side of the story where a wicked witch is portrayed as a manifestation of darkness and danger also gets retold in an interpretative manner as a glimpse of femme fatale-ness and utter womanly seduction. The items in the collection are then categorized into two distinct camps of styles and narrativity.
Uniqueness, timelessness and craftsmanship are what mainly defines and values this ready-to-wear collection line that eagerly represents the simplification of womenswear. Whether you are responsible for being a businesswoman who has a meeting during daytime or a best girl friend who has a spinning nightout, all items in the collection cater to modern woman's various spheres of lifestyles. Ms Rassarine emphasizes that “to polish each woman’s aesthetics to its finest while adding other delicate components to them is key to creating confidence every woman yearns for.” Spanning from mischievously delicate prints to different fabrics meshings to create dimension and ooze absolute opulence to highlighting women’s physical curves, all roots for the brand’s identity of which its determination is to tick all the boxes of women’s desires in every occasion the spotlight is moving towards every footstep of hers.
Ms Rassarine states that the journey of Made Of Fabric has been “a coming-of-age moment of women who never stop looking for new experiences for herself”. To put it another way, the main inspiration for this collection is comparative to Ms Rassarine’s pursuit of her childhood memories. A fairy tale awash with nostalgic reminiscences resembles a familiar atmosphere that thoroughly brings herself back to the world of fantasy. In order to reimagine the meaning of perfection, Ms Rassayn constructs the characteristics of a princess through the more mature lens of her vision. “To intertwine the classical fairy tale with the concept of ready-to-wear apparels is considered challenging to me because in order to deselect some components from the story means losing certain crucial elements. Therefore, we try to interpret “the princess’s beauty” in the way that remains most of the accustomed elements that are easier to understand and more minimalistically simplified; for instance, the low-key crinoline skirt, than remaining all the unrelatable complications”
Ms Rassarine tells more of the details for this collection that range from such primary color choices as rose pink color that best reflects femininity, delicacy, and optimism. Other decorative elements which perfectly communicate the brand’s identity are, for example, ruffles and fabrics layering to bring forth the movement dynamics of fabrics and enhance the luxuriousness, leading all the spotlights simultaneously behind every woman. Besides, sublimation printing technique plays a crucial role in being a vibrant touch to rose-pattern see-through fabrics in romantically-felt colored gradients.Testament to all of the milestones Made Of Fabric has had a journey through is a gracefully growing chapter of a woman who is endlessly in search of the genuine meaning of womanhood. From a road leading to seeking ideal individuality through pieces of work that display a development of women from all walks of life since early years of the brand establishment to an attractive full-grown woman who eyes the world with optimism and maturity marks every stage of herself being determined to look for her genuine self and the ideal of modern well-balanced femininity. Ms Rassarine further adds that “every single thing is a reflection of who I am. I firmly believe that if everything we do comes originally out of our true self––full of happiness and enjoyment––what everyone can feel is attentiveness and honesty we pour our hearts in doing so.”
